To help you with your business. We share lessons, stories, and insights from entrepreneurs. Who've been right where you are and have gone on to do Epic things on their very own, all the way up journey. Guys, we have QA quarter on our podcast today and today. I love that you've mixed the science of hypnotherapy with financial and you found an underlying trauma and you're using science and a bit of magic. I think there'll be a bit magical, but you're using science and a bit of magic to unblock something. So you get a much better result. Yes, So, so true. I mean, I don't even want to do therapy. I could just have a talk therapy practice, but I don't even want to do therapy without hypnotherapy. And I don't even want to do therapy without talking about your money history, because it is such a big part of how you do anything. What nobody knows about it. We don't teach it. You know, the problem with society today, at least in my opinion is we're teaching our youth. That success is go hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt as a 17 year old and go to college and make this decision for the future of your life. Go get a degree. You probably aren't going to use your degree anyway, but go do it anyway because you're supposed to. And all, by the way, the government were going to pay for your college. We're going to give you scholarships and grants and all this stuff to pay for this thing that we're going to want you to go get thousands of dollars in debt for, and we're not going to teach you anything about money. We're actually going to give you great credit. We're going to give you credit cards here, 18 year old, and we're going to name college bars, the library. So it doesn't show up on mommy and daddy's bill. So we're going to do all these fun things with people. And then we're just going to release them to the world. And then when they figure out their own way and they become successful and they come back and they start working with you and they start, you know, making investments or figuring out money stuff that, you know, there's some shit there. And we all have some shit there. Absolutely, Absolutely. We all do. And believe it or not, we are all using money to get love. Ooh, talk to me about that money to get low. Yeah. So I have a quiz called the money mentality quiz. And when you take the money mentality quiz, you'll find out your money mentality. And I say that there are seven different money personalities or money mentality types. And each one uses money to get love in a different way. So of the seven one is the ideal money mentality. So it's not really the president is what I call it because the name of my company is presidential lifestyle. So that one money personality is not using money to get love. They've already figured it out and they know how to separate the two. And they have harmony, not balance, but harmony in every area of what I call the money cycle. Now, before I go any further out to find the money cycle, I define the money cycle as earn, grow, protect gift, and enjoy your money. Now, how you navigate the money cycle is going to determine your lifestyle, but your money mentality determines how you navigate the money cycle. So for example, you're probably familiar with the spender and the saver weave. Those are the two that we talk about most often, but there are other money mentalities that are similar to spenders and savers, but they're different. So for example, you have the enthusiasm. Now the enthusiasm kind of looks like a spender, but the difference is the enthusiasm is the person who's going to buy the bar. Like they are going to make sure everybody has a good time. You go to an enthusiasm for your wants. And that is how the enthusiasm shows love. They make sure you have a good time, make sure your wants are taken care of not your knees separate those two. So the enthusiast is the person who usually they like the get rich quick scheme. So that's the person you go to. If you're in a multi-level marketing company, then you want to be the first person to sign up. And that's how they show you. Love. Sure. I love you. I'll join in this big business idea you have, but then they're also going to want you to join in their business venture. And that's how you show them love to trust them enough, to get into their business venture. That's the enthusiasm. And I love to be around and enthusiastic, but personally myself, I was a hero and the hero is similar to an enthusiast or spender except where a hero spends their money is on needs. The hero is the person you come to. If you can't pay your mortgage, or you got a boot on your car, or your license is suspended and you gotta pay, you know, whatever amount of money to get, it's like, that's the person that you go to for the needs. Like, Oh my God, I need you. And that's how they show love because they help you take care of your needs. But it's also how they receive love. Because just the simple fact that you called on them, let them know that you love them. You trust them enough to let them bail you out of the situation. So there are a couple of other ones, but I just wanted to at least drop those two on you so that you can get a feel for how we are using money to get low. Talk to me about how you specifically help people reprogram these thoughts. So they get into this presidential state. So we need to first admit you have been programmed, right? I have this programming and you talked about it a lot in the beginning. You talked about how you think a certain thing, because society tells you to, you know, you go to school, you get a good job. You get married, you buy a house, you have two kids, you get a dog, you know, like that's the programming We've been taught. Just describe me literally. I mean, if you would've put a, get a divorce and get remarried again, then you just described my life. I have two kids. I have a dog I'm married. I, I mean, that's your classic epitome of success here. I tell ya Exactly. And that's what society program does to do. It says, this is the cookie cutter life you need to do. If you don't do it, then you're not accepted. You're not successful. You're not one of us. You're not American. You're not whatever title you need to put on there. Right. And some of the things that we've been programmed, like, for example, when I was young, I didn't want to have children. And I would tell people all the time, I don't want to have children. I don't want to have children. I don't want to have children. And people would say to me, Oh, that's so sad or, Oh, what's wrong. Or what happened to you? It couldn't just be that. I made a choice that no, no children, this much weight. Oh my gosh, we will be so devastated. It would hurt them so bad that I would say something like, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. You made that decision. I feel so bad. I eventually adopted twin daughters. But before that, I didn't want to have kids. And so people will always say that's terrible. And just because they were programmed and I wasn't. And so we first have to just identify that there is programming and that you can be unapologetic about shifting that programming. You don't have to be the status quo. You don't have to be the American dream. You're going to be whatever you want. You can customize your own American dream. But first you got to identify that it's there. So when we identify this, so you said, you're the hero? How do we use that? So the hero have strengths and challenges. Now, what we want to do is become a president. We want to shift our money mentality to the president money mentality by awareness or identify. So identify that I do have some programming. I first had to identify that programming and that programming was, I use money to get love. Okay, I got that. And how am I using money to get love? Oh, I allow people to cross my boundaries. I allow people to go into my savings because sometimes when I was helping people, I wasn't doing it out of my discretionary income. Sometimes I was reaching into my savings to help them with their emergency. When that savings was supposed to be there for my emergency, not theirs. And so they were crossing my boundaries. And so what looked like me trying to get love, turned into me, getting resentful and frustrated with my family and friends who couldn't seem to make good decisions on their own. And so that's where the challenge lies. And that was the program. The program he did, I was now telling myself was that they needed me. I was like, they're quote, unquote, God. Now they can't make any decisions without me. Now that feels really good at times. But eventually you end up needing to put that Cape and that crowd in that pedestal, Like it's odd energy too. Like it's almost this weird codependent energy that like, I don't want them to need me, but I also kind of hope that they need me because I want to be there for them, because that makes me feel Yes, exactly. Exactly. It's so it's like, you juggled it too, because you do feel good, but then there's a point where it shifts. It doesn't feel good anymore. And then it's like, Oh crap, there's that name on my phone again? They're calling me again. What do they want? You already know, they're not calling to see how you're doing. They're calling to see what you can do for them. And so that starts to feel bad. And it's when you cross this line between helping and pleasing. And that is a very distinct line. And you almost don't know as a hero when you're crossing it, but you do in any way, because this is the only way, you know how to get love at this time, because you haven't done the work yet to shift out of that hero mentality. So you keep doing the same thing, expecting a different result because doing the same thing, expecting different results is not the definition of insanity. That is the definition of humanity. We all do it because that is the way the brain is made. The brain goes towards familiar and away from unfamiliar. So if the brain goes towards familiar, then there's no other choice. But to do the same thing, expecting a different result until you do something like hypnotherapy or time and repetition to teach your brain, that there are other options out there. And then when you move to wanting to customize your American dream, the next step is to intention set, you know, set the intention of how you want to feel feel is important because when you do that money thing, you do, you get a feeling and then you get another feeling that secondary of feeling. That's the feeling that really can shift you. Now think about it like this. If you are enthusiastic, you buy the bar and then everybody leaves and then issue just you at the bar. All the people are gone now, how do you feel Lonely as hell and probably drunk And drunk and broke Those aren't good things. And that turns into crying and has never a great night. Right? But you need that feeling, right? So that's the identify. You got to first find that feeling. So let's just go with loneliness. I feel lonely. We named it, you got to name it and then you move to the intention. What do you want to feel? So instead of feeling lonely, I want to feel loved or, you know, in community, or I want to feel important, you know, it's significant or like I'm contributing the word is you give it a word. And for right now let's just call it significant. I want to feel significant. Okay. So now we have named the feeling that we have right now. We've also named the feeling that we want to have. And then we need to name our money mentality. So you got to find out your money mentality. So for me, like I said, I was a hero and I kind of now laugh about the hero. Right. When I see the hero come up, I'm like, Oh, don't put that cable away, girl. Don't even think about it. So it didn't still cropping up. It still crops up here and there. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Because you will revert. You will revert. And so that's the other part of that is getting in a tribe and a tribe could just be the two people. It could just be like, Hey Gary, whenever you see me going into hero mode, just pull my cake, pull my case. It's just basic accountability there. Like my wife and I, we sit across from each other and we work and we overlook the ocean. And I noticed on, I don't know which day it was one day this week, maybe Monday. I said, my back's hurting. I must've been slouching while I was sitting in my chair. And I said, Hey, if you see me slouching, can you say, Hey, maybe, do you realize you're slouching? Just so I wouldn't slouch. Well, she did that for a day and now my back doesn't hurt anymore. So having that accountability or that partner that keeps you in check that looks at you and says, Hey, you don't see that Cape. I'll put it away. Like, that's just, I kind of keep that in check. Yeah. And it starts with accountability, but the brain learns two ways, time and repetition or life-changing event. And so the time of repetition is her saying, Hey, you're slouching. Hey, you're slouching. Or you saying to me, Hey, hero, take the Cape off, take that Cape off. And I hear it enough that then I began to identify when I'm doing it. I don't even need Gary to pull my Cape. Cause I'm like, Oh, did I just want that Cape on pick the Cape off girl, nobody asks you for your help. Go sit down somewhere. And I started holding myself accountable and then it becomes second nature. And so after feeling that feeling enough, and then after identifying it and having some accountability and then seeing it myself and say, Oh, I see this. And then it becoming second nature. Then what happens is every single money mentality, their strength is one or two of the money cycle areas. And then they also challenged in those areas. Because remember I said, the money cycle is earned, grow, protect, gift, and enjoy your money. Well, I'm really good at gifting. I'm also really good at earning. Most heroes are good at Ernie. They're really good at gifting. And a lot of times they go straight from earning to gifting. They forget to grow it. They forget to protect it and they don't always even enjoy it unless they happen to hang out with an enthusiast. And then they do continue when he, but I'm challenged in protecting. I also kind of do a good job at growing. Like right now, my investments are doing great. However, before I was a hero, if somebody needed something, I would sell something to help somebody like, Oh, let me sell some of that crypto and hope this person over here can pay their mortgage. Why would I do that? I have no idea, but it just felt like the right thing. But after I would do it, just like that enthusiasm sitting at the bar by themselves, after everybody's gone, after I would do it, I would feel some resentment or just like some guilt or just, it was just felt an icky feeling like, ah, that was not the right thing to do. And so I set up a gift fund because I know I'm going to give it is my strength. And so then what happens is they come and they say, can I borrow? Can I have? And I say, Oh, well, it just so happens that as a hero, I already have a gift fund. And my gift fund is $500. You need a thousand. I'm going to be able to give you 500. You're going to need to get the other 500 from somewhere else. You do not have to pay me back because I already was Prepare to give, I love the concept of realizing your weakness or your, I won't call it a weakness, but your challenge is what I call it. Your challenge, right? Your challenge. Like it's not a weakness. It's just you realizing a character trait of yours. It's not even a challenge because it's just a character trait because it's actually a really good character trait in my opinion. And instead of saying, it's bad, I need to exit out. That's horrible. That's bad. I'm bad. I need to go do this. You said, no, I can be better, but I still want to be me. So I'm going to be me, but I'm going to put boundaries around me to hold myself accountable because now as I'm growing and as I'm protecting and as I'm enjoying, and as I'm earning, I'm also going to have some over here that I'm gifting Stu McLaren. He said something which I thought was brilliant. He said, my goal is to give away 99% of my income to charity. He said, but I need to make a million dollars a year. And he said, I need to go make a hundred million dollars a year because I don't want to lower my lifestyle to give away more money to charity. I want to increase my donations to charity without lowering my lifestyle and what he did every single year, which I thought was brilliant is he increased the percentage of his income that he was willing to give to charity. His goal was 99%. So if you are truly the giver and you truly want to be that hero and help people, you may say, well, this year I'm going to put aside 5% in my little fund, my fund money. I'm going to be the hero with that money. And if your goal is to maybe eventually be able to be the hero at 99% of your money, that's not bad. It just means you got to go make it a lot more for the other parts. If that's where you truly want to grow, I'm not saying you want to give away 99% of your money, but it's example, it's like, you can do whatever you choose to do. As long as you set those constraints and you set those boundaries up and you fit into the other pieces of that puzzle. Yeah. Yes. And the important part is that we have all these words that we see as the negative or limiting. So words like boundaries or limits. We don't like those, but we do need to set limits or boundaries for ourselves. Because a lot of times you have more money arguments with yourself than you do with anybody else. Oh yeah. 100%. It's biggest stressor. You know, I work with my clients and I work with a lot of people in marketing and their business coaches or they're people just like you. And you know, I always ask them a question. What's keeping everyone up at night. We'll tell you, money's keeping most people up at night right now. It's either, how do I invest more? How do I leverage more? How do I work less and still make the same amount? How do I pay this bill? How do I help that person? There's so many money challenges that in our minds on a daily basis. Absolutely. Yeah. We have a saying here at presidential lifestyle and it's like, money is the number one cause of stress, whether you have it or not. And then the thing is stress is the cause of many major illnesses. So now taking this back and forgive me if I'm pointing the finger at you, but you know how you were slouching in your chair. Some of that could have been the heaviness of that stress, pushing your shoulders down, making your spine curve. And that was the way you were holding that stress. And every time you set up by changing your state, right, but changing your body, you were releasing some of that stress, which then allowed you to sit up straight in the next few days as you release that stress. And as you release that stress, probably better to think about what you were doing on that computer, making you more present and more creative or more powerful. Oh, I know what I was doing. I was hanging out in clubhouse and I was literally coaching and serving. And the more I coached and the more I served and the more I helped and the more I answer questions like when you're serving and when you have hundreds of people in a room asking you questions, you gotta show up, you got sit up straight, you got to get up and move around. You got to have some energy because they're counting on you. So can I, how can our listeners stay in contact with you, catch up with you, figure out what's going on in your world. What's the best place to go, The best place to go. I would say, take the money mentality quiz. Do do that for yourself. Name it, name your money personality. And you can do that@presidentiallifestyle.com slash quiz and that's free. And then the two places that I hang out the most now, clubhouse, if you are privileged enough to be in there, find me a clubhouse, but LinkedIn, because I have a very professional ditch. And so LinkedIn is where I spend more of my time. So you can connect with me on there. And I do have fun on Instagram though. I thought it was just your birthday a couple of days ago. So happy birthday. I saw the nice little video and the little celebration. So that was cool. See, I personally love seeing that side of someone. Like I like to know the person behind the company. Yep. Me too. And that's why I do that because I want to be personal. Like I don't get intimate on any social media, but I'm very personal and I am just a personal kind of person. And so that's what I do on Instagram. I hang out there, I show my fun life in 2021 is the year of fun. So I just plan on showing you all kinds of adventures on Instagram and then I'll be, you know, kind of sorta professional on LinkedIn To mix the two. And then you have to do it in a nice way, but a great way to cross pollinate. The two is to say, Hey, there's a couple of phases of me just as I'm sure there's a couple of places. There are a couple of ways that you act. If you want to see me a little more buttoned up than a little more polished, come over to LinkedIn. If you want to see me a little more fun, go to Instagram, but I highly recommend you do both because if you really want to get to know me, you're going to end up in both places. And then you're moving people because what everyone tries to do. And it's fine if it's a meme, but everyone tries to point the same piece of content on all 32 locations. And then it's boring. Like why do I need to go to your Instagram and follow your Instagram? If I'm also going to go on LinkedIn and see your LinkedIn message, that's exactly the same as your Instagram message. And I'm going to go on Facebook and see the exact same message I did. And I get it when it's a meme or I get it at certain times, but there needs to be a different flavor and a taste. So I love what you're doing. I know I'm going to personally, I think we're a level two connection on LinkedIn. So I'm going to hit my little button to make sure that we are level one connection on LinkedIn. And then I know I'm already following you on Instagram and I can't wait to go take your quiz too and figure out my Results. That's exciting. I'm super intrigued by this. Oh, you just made me think of something that I want to leave the audience with. So in the prosperity club, prosperity club is where I hang out with my tribe. And one of the things that I have you do is to write out your affirmation statement and then I want you to make it like one sentence. So the affirmation statement that I will just give you the whole thing, and then you can write your version of it for you. But it's, I'm a happily married New York times, bestselling author, highly paid, highly sought after international speaker and millionaire hypnotherapists in excellent health. So that's a whole statement. But when I wake up in the morning, the words that I say, like, I don't even open my eyes yet. I say, I get paid for BME. My life is very easy. I get paid for being me. My life is very easy. Yes, because when you wake up in the morning, a lot of times the anxiety hits right away. But if you have a statement that you can say that could kind of calm that anxiety and bring you back to what I call calm, optimal brain state, then you can go about your day in that calm, optimal brain state making decisions from calm, optimal brain state, not from anxiety, trauma triggers, not from there, but from calm, optimal, and those as the best place to make your decisions, including your money decisions. I can tell you, I just repeated it. And there was a sense of calmness that came over me. So if you're listening to this, like I highly recommend you repeat this. I get paid for being me. My life is very easy because it just feels good. Like it just feels good. That's right. So thank you so much. I look forward to following you, hanging out and learning more. You are welcome. It is my sincere pleasure. Thank you for having me. What an Epic episode Canadia shared, how we can learn from our life-changing events, how we can set boundaries with ourselves.
